Some fresh release news this month from The Inside and Norm Rex labels who are headed by the enterprising ieMERG. You will remember The Inside as the label that put out Merge’s ‘Audiocide’ break earlier this year.

It’s now the turn of fellow world champion Tigerstyle and beatsmith Machinedrum to step up and deliver two outstanding break records – namely ‘Zero’ by Tigerstyle and ‘Cached’ by Machinedrum.

Both records offer up more ammunition for practice, production and battling. If ‘Audiocide’ was the most successful break this year, then you can bet your ass these two will be vying for the title in the coming year. Sticking to the philosophy of ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’, Norm Rex and The Inside deliver two records that exceed all expectations and continue to offer high quality beats, sounds and other scratch fodder – these aren’t just quickly put together and hurried out releases to make a quick buck. The beats alone on both releases make them an indispensable addition to your collection.

They are both the first break releases from each artist, with ‘Zero’ having been in the works for nearly two years – and soon to be followed by Tigerstyle’s next break record ‘One’ (see what he did there?).

The Inside and Norm Rex still have a whole bunch of releases in the works, as we announced earlier on this year – next up should be more break records and album/EP releases from Lorn (whose ‘Doppleganger’ record is done), Nautilis, ieMERG, Rafik, Kodh and more. You can stay updated with the label over on their myspace page

Anyways enough of the talk – you can hear some snippets from ‘Zero’ right here or head over to Turntable Lab, which is stocking both records and also holds samples of each side – Machinedrum – Cached and Tigerstyle – Zero. Both records should run you around $10 or so depending on where you are in the world, and distribution seems to have reached most online and physical shops in the US, Europe and Japan. Now you’ve got no excuses not to get your shopping on!

Oh and before we go, stay tuned as we’ll have some copies of both records to give away shortly – in the meantime you can check exclusive tracks from Tigerstyle and ieMERG on recent and future podcasts and here’s a brand new scratch beat from Tigerstyle to get your practice on right click and save as.
