Raida’s Gong Battle for World Supremacy is heading to Europe. On the 8th of September Eclectic Breaks will be hosting the European chapter of Raida’s new battle, at Bar Rumba in Central London.
The battle is the latest addition to the battle scene which some people are seeing as becoming increasingly stale – however the first edition of the Gong Battle held in New York earlier this year proved a big success and it seems as if Raida may succeed where others have failed. The battle is named after the gong which is used to eliminate participants that are seen to be unoriginal or straight biting – there are 5 rounds of head to head battles.
The battle is open to anyone from around the world – participants need to be at the venue by 6pm to register. Prizes will be announced closer to the date. Check the EB site for more info, the full rules and regulations are also available from skratchworx.com.
In the words of EB: “The Gong Battle will bring together people from the DJ industry to fans of the scene to enjoy the talent on display, but also to have fun and generally let their hair down in a more relaxed social atmosphere; doing away with the traditional perception of DJ events as being stuffy elitist’s events which no one, bar a handful of DJ’s can truly understand or appreciate. ”
The battle takes place ahead of EB’s popular Getdown night held weekly at Bar Rumba. Turntable Radio will be present on the night as I’ll be sitting on the judging panel.
