Woody returns in 2006 with a first release on his newly minted Woodwurk label – a mix CD with long time friend and vinyl partner Sean Vinylment, entitled ‘A Country Practice’.
Regular listeners might remember this, as we aired an exclusive 15mins sample of the mix back in the summer of 2005 for our One Self special (and if you missed it then click on the archive and look for the September 05 show).
The mix will be released late this month, early April and will be the first in a series which Woody and Sean hope to release annualy. The mix itself is damn nice, following a simple and easy concept: Sean Vinylment digs into his crates for some rare, unheard and classic gems from across the musical spectrum, and then Woody takes care of putting the whole thing together and adding his own touches. However this isn’t some scratch happy, manic mix, it’s really quite subtle and is all about the music. Woody’s touches are mainly instrumental, scratching a flute or guitar, adding to the music playing without taking over it. Which makes the mix a definite must for fans of good music and deft mixing. We’ll probably be airing the sampler on the next podcast but in the meantime check the archive for a taster and be sure to get your hands on it when it drops, as it’s definitely one of the nicest mixes we’ve heard so far this year – ok it’s only March but you know what I mean.
For more info on where to get your hands on it just head over to Woody’s site and keep checking the news section. You can expect distribution to reach all the usual outlets in the UK and Europe. If you can’t find it near you than just hit the man up.
But it’s not at all. We’ve also got a nice, brand new video of Woody in action, taken at last year’s DJs for Life event. See the You Tube link below – this video, along with others from DJ Quest, D-Styles and Tigerstyle are gonna be available for download at Spin Science in the coming week. Starting with Woody and Quest. So if you like what you see than go and peep the site and grab the vids for yourself.
